The Androgynous Look

One of my favorite, if not my all time favorite look in everyday and runway has got to be the androgynous look given in a male and female perspective. Although this rule only applies if done right, and not coming off looking too gaybar. I love the way I look at some Burberry ads and see a young man, probably in his late teens/early 20's, dressed in a pinstripe suit who happens to have the delicate features of a woman, but the questionable body stature of a man. We see it more and more often in everyday fashion culture, men wearing ultra-skinny jeans and fitted shirts, women wearing over-sized clothes and accessories giving terms like 'the boyfriend watch' and the 'grandpa sweater' new meanings in women's style. One esteemed English model, Agyness Deyn comes to mind when I think of the androgynous look done right for once, and not looking borderline transgender. She maintains a fun, 60's punk vibe and can manage to flip a script, instantly transforming into once being the face of Giorgio Armani. It's no wonder the gigs she gets when you take a look at her breathtaking features, that can easily be given the androgynous look with a spritz of moose, a conservative top, and a cig stuck between her lips for that attitude element. It's become the new black for men to have that certain...flair nowadays, go figure.

Artist of the Month:Rachel Zoe

Rachel Rosenzweig (more commonly known as Rachel Zoe) is known for her work as a professional stylist, working with the likes of A-Listers such as Jennifer Garner, Joy Bryant, Lindsay Lohan, Nicole Richie and more. Her vintage glamour style and hectic lifestyle is what captivates her reality show "The Rachel Zoe Project" alongside her husband and business partner, Rodger, her style assistant, Taylor, and the new guy, Brad. From battling with unberable stress, flooding studios, and false accusations of the media, all the while being a vision of perfection, she earns the title of a modern day fashion icon. Sure she's no Halston nor Twiggy, but the way Zoe has made aspiring fashionistas ,as well as celebrities, have an appreciation for cultured designers, such as one of my personal favorites Erin Fetherston. During the first airing of the Rachel Zoe Project on Bravo around fall 2008, I sat in awe of her glamourous and hardworking lifestyle as one to live some day in my lifetime. She shows what can truly be achieved with passion, dedication, and a bit of sass. Rachel Zoe is an icon to look out for and is at the top of her game now, more than ever.

P.S.Check out her book "Style:A to Zoe." Its a really amazing book if your into learning how to find your personal style, and doing it well, insight on vintage, legendary designers' & celebs (Lohan, Knightly, Mischa Barton, Garner, Armani...) speak about Zoe and fashion tips, and living your glamorous lifestyle. Great book, even better pictures, buy it, I did... 5 stars for Zoe.

"Choose something you like and do that for a living. Its just going to make you work that much harder at it."-Rachel Zoe

Art and Beyond

My curiosity about all things fashion and style prompted after the discovery of stylist and fashion extraordinaire, Rachel Zoe. She gave me a great education and appreciation for fashion. I began to study icons like Oscar de la Renta, Missoni, Gabrielle Chanel, Giambattista Valli, and I mean, the list just goes on from here. "Sunday Best" is my interpretation of what style means to me. Sunday Best is coverage through the eyes of an originator. Sunday Best is the peoples' expression. Welcome to Sunday Best--art and beyond.
